Aria
|
Aria has been adopted by Elmer and Jeanne Halbasch and will be living with her Pei brother (also adopted from us) near Yosemite National Park. Lucky girl!
Please help me! My name is Area, and I have been thrown in jail for a crime I did not commit. I know, prisons are full of people who “didn’t do it”, but in my case it’s true. The only crime I committed was to be found running on the streets trying to take care of myself. I guess that didn’t work out too well, and I was locked up. I was at a shelter in Sacramento when this photo was taken, and they wanted to kill me if this rescue wouldn’t post bail for me. They seemed to think that there is a problem with my feet, and that makes me unadoptable. Let me tell you, I have seen some feet on you two legged critters that make mine look good! All kidding aside, I did find myself in a position I would not want anyone to be in. Thankfully, I am now in Redding, and waiting for someone to consider adding me to their family. I am a well behaved little girl. Even though I am no longer in “doggie jail”, and I am safe, I would like a family of my own. I would like a family who will not discard me when I become a little inconvenient and times get tough. After all, I am at my best helping you cope with the bad times and making the good times better. Please give me a chance to do that for you.

Chyna
|
Chyna has been adopted by Larry Gore and will now call Southern Oregon home. It was love at first sight!
Hi. My name is Chyna, and I am from a shelter in the San Francisco area. I am a young, very petite fawn horsecoat girl. I have a lot of energy and would like a forever home with folks who can help me run off some of that energy. I am a very loving girl and kind of silly, but that’s part of my charm. I would love the opportunity to share my wonderful personality with you. I really like humans and most other dogs. Please look into my eyes and try so see what a loving and special girI am. I deserve better than being discarded in a shelter like yesterday’s trash. But, you know what they say, “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure”. I am a treasure and would love to share your home with you and provide you with some comic relief. We all need that! Thanks for reading this, and if you would like to meet me please fill out an application under my name-Chyna.

Jeb
|
Jeb has been adopted by Patricia Hoffman. He will be living in Half Moon Bay, CA, with his new Pei sister, Belle, who was adopted from us back in 2000.
Well, if you thought those other two new kids were good looking-you ain’t seen nothing yet. My registered name is “Jokin’ Jebediah”, but you can call me Jeb. Yes, I am also AKC registered as a flowered bearcoat. I’ve heard it said around here that they don’t see many bearcoats at this rescue, and now there are three of us. As with most of the rest of the “kids” here, my story is a sad one. My owner really did love me, but her six year old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor. As a single mom her finances were stretched and her time for me was limited, but she wanted to do right by me so rather than take me to a shelter she called my new foster parents. With the help of Kathy Allred and Alexia Rogers, I was able to make the trip from Salt Lake City to Redding where I am settling in. I do get along with adults, kids, dogs, and even cats! What is it with us bearcoats and cats? Anyway, I am only about 1 ½ years old and looking for an active home. I would love kids and another dog to play with…I’m a really easy going guy and would make a great addition to any family who is lucky enough to get to adopt me. You’ll probably never see another Pei who looks like me, so if you would like to meet me in person, please fill out the application under my name, but don’t wait too long because I think I’ll have people lining up to take me home. Well, a guy can wish…

Yogi and Smokey
|
Smokey and Yogi have been adopted by Dennis and Erika and are anxious to get to the much cooler climate of their new home in Santa Cruz, CA.
Well, you are probably wondering how anyone could give up two good looking guys such as ourselves. Well it seems our owner was being evicted from his home so he took us and our cat friend (yes, we get along with cats) to the local shelter and left us. The shelter was going to euthanize us because we bark. We are, after all, dogs, and that’s what dogs do. We only bark for attention and we quit as soon as someone will pet us. As you can tell, we are bearcoat Pei and AKC registered no less. We know the papers don’t mean anything and that all lives are of equal value-we just wanted you to know. We are father and son. I am Yogi, the cream colored boy, and that lilac youngster is my son. The apple sure doesn’t fall far from the tree if you know what I mean…good looks definitely run in this family. We are looking for a fairly calm home with older children and maybe a dog friendly cat would be ok. Our previous owner did give the shelter some info on us including that we were indoor dogs and are housebroken. We love car rides, but are not so crazy about baths. Really, what self respecting Shar Pei is? Anyway, we just wanted to let you know we are here, and as soon as we are neutered will be available to the right home. We do really like each other and we would never argue if you would consider taking us both. Won’t you please try and help us keep what is left of our family together? Thanks for taking the time to read our story.

Hunter
|
Hunter has gone to live with Glenn Visgitus and Jackie Chan his new Pei Playmate.
Hunter came in with Abby and Pheonix. He is a laid-back goomba, listens to everything I say and does it. Hunter, Abby and Phoenix play all the time. They "dragon fight" and then flatten each other to the ground. They include Hunter also but he is usually the one on the bottom of the pile, but he does not mind it. All three are very affectionate but Hunter seeks it out the most. But sit down and all three are there for a pet and hug. |

He looks like my Chai, who I was fortunate enough to adopt from you. Please take care of him like you both, only, know how to do. Chai has given me so much so I am in my own little way, giving back to this baby. I am thankful for you both & your cause. Please keep doing the good work that you do. xoxo Kristen
