"Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to."

About Pixie
Pixie was adopted by the Levinson family in the San Francisco area.

Happy New Year to all of you! My name is Pixie, and I'm from a high kill shelter in Southern CA. I was found under a car-I can't remember if I was actually hit by a car at some point in time. When found, the top of my head had a large gash in it which has since healed but serves as a nasty reminder of my previous life. My coat was filthy-I was more gray than cream. One of the first things they did for me here in Redding was to give me a bath. My coat has filled in nicely since coming here, and I've been spayed and had entropion surgery. You know the saying, "good things come in small packages". Well, I've got to tell you that I come in a very small package-around 30 pounds-and I'm a very good thing! I love people, and I get along well with other dogs. I really want a family to call my own for 2012. This time I want a family who will not allow me to be put in the position where there is even a remote possibility that I might get hit by a car. In ending I want to thank the animal control officer from San Bernadino who sent a plea to the folks here in Redding on my behalf. She could see beyond what I was when she picked me up to the new "person" I have become in a few short weeks. Thank you Shari-you came through when I needed it most.

About Gomer
Gomer has been adopted by Sam Hood in Northern California.

Hello to all of you. My name is Gomer-for some reason Dr. Larry came up with it, and it stuck. I'm not sure I'm crazy about the name, but it's better than the one I came in with. Everyone here decided that "Grumpy" was not an appropriate name for me as I'm anything but grumpy. I'm very outgoing and loving and easy on the eyes. Speaking of eyes, you might notice in the photo that I just had entropion surgery so the scars are very apparent. You can also see how beautiful my big brown eyes are now. Really, I'm an all around good guy looking for an all around good home to call my own. I am from a shelter in Burbank, CA, but I'm happy to be in Redding where I am being well cared for. I've gotta tell you though I really wouldn't mind a home away from this triple digit heat! Oh well, I guess we all have to take the bad with the good, and let me tell you the good far outweighs the bad here.

If you will be checking on all of us new "kids" being added, you might think you are seeing double, triple, or even quadruple. It seems all of us who have recently arrived in Redding have at least one thing in common-we are all black! I'm just letting you know that your eyes are not playing tricks on you...

About Mugsy
Mugsy was adopted by the Zimmer family in Southern Oregon.

Hi everyone. My name is Mugsy, and I am originally from Sin City. I'm not quite sure why Las Vegas also goes by Sin City, but I'm quite sure it has nothing to do with me. I was found as a stray, and I guess I did something terribly wrong because no one came looking for me. I had a cut on my lip, and that was reason enough for the shelter to send me to doggie heaven if my foster parents had not stepped up and agreed to take me. After making the long journey to Redding, I was taken to see Dr. Larry and given a clean bill of health. I am about three years old and really a friendly kind of guy. I like to play a game with my foster dad where he lets me go out into a big yard to get some exercise, and then I make him chase me to get me to come back. I think he's finally figured out it's a game for me, and I just want someone to play chase with! You humans get frustrated so easily...life is a game! Well, if you have any questions for me, just get in touch with my foster parents, and we'll get an answer for you. In the meantime, take time to enjoy life like I do.
