About PJ
PJ and Phoebe have gone to live in Montana with the Elvey family.

I’m known as PJ here at the rescue. I’m not sure what’s up with that…peanut butter and jelly maybe. I’m just not sure where it came from, but it doesn’t matter to me. As the saying goes, “you can call me anything, just not late for dinner!” Speaking of food, the chow here is really pretty good here. My foster mom cooks for us to help make our dry food taste a little better. I came from a high kill shelter in central CA, and I’m really glad to be here. I’ve been neutered and had my eyes done since arriving. I’m really sort of a little guy, but don’t let that fool you because I am all muscle. I like everyone-two and four legged-and would like the opportunity to prove that to you. I know my photo is not that great, but please don’t blame the photographer. I hate to stand still-I really just want to play with someone. If you would like a buddy who’s a little more on the active side, I might be just who you are looking for. Please come visit me and the rest of my brothers and sisters here in Redding. Just being surrounded by all of us wanting to share our love with you would make the trip worthwhile.

About Romeo
Romeo has been adopted by the Rodriguez family in Daly City, CA.

Hello to all of you. My name is Romeo only because it was decided that “Lover Boy” was too awkward. I’m not sure how many faces would turn around if someone were calling me “Lover Boy” at the dog park and who might get slapped! Either way, I can live up to the name. I really do love everyone I meet, and it doesn’t matter if you have two or four legs or if my leg is broken. My story begins with someone in San Diego witnessing me getting hit by a car and taking me to the shelter. I was there for 10 days, and nothing was done for my hurt leg. Finally, the shelter staff called and the rescue was told that they had to get me out of the shelter the next day or I would be killed. Somehow it didn’t seem fair to the folks at the rescue that I should have to die because I had an irresponsible owner. I know they worked hard to get me to Redding the next day (it’s about a ten hour drive), but they got the job done so that Dr. Larry could take care of my broken leg. He would have had an easier time if he could have put me back together as soon as the fracture happened, but that was not the case. He did say the surgery was a “challenge”, but we are all hopeful that I will regain full use of my leg. So now you know my story, but I am putting all that in the past. What I have now in front of me is a blank page on which to start writing the next chapter of my life. I am hoping to include one of you in the “rest of the story”.

We just adopted a Sharpei from our local SPCA that is approximately 7 years old according to our vet. She is a real sweetheart. Please consider adopting one of the dogs here. This donation is for Shawdow and CoCo (in memorium; our wonderful Sharpei of 13+ years). Sharpeis are great dogs because they love to communicate and pride themselves on being loyal members of the family.

Here is hoping Romeo finds his forever home soon...his story is just like my Pei Indy's story...I adopted Indy from Anna and Richard in 2004 after he had been hit by a car and left with no medical attention as well until he came to the shelter...he is my best buddy and companion even with a lopsided limp and is still going strong! I hope someone special takes care of Romeo soon! Don't give up Romeo...it will be your turn soon!

Anna and one of your volunteers came to the rescue of a Shar-Pei I called about a year ago that was at a shelter in Devore, San Bernardino. You are one of my favorite rescues and I greatly appreciate all the work you do.

About Allie
Mojo and Allie were adopted by Joel and Nancy Coartney and will be living in Southern CA.

Hi everyone. My name is Allie, and I came from a high kill shelter in central California. When I got to Redding, my eyes needed immediate attention as well as my ears. I was just kind of a “blob” when I arrived because I really didn’t feel all that great. Since I’ve been here, my ears have been thoroughly cleaned, my eyes have been surgically corrected, and I have been spayed. I am now happy and healthy and very playful. I don’t remember ever feeling this good before! I am only about two years old, but because I did not get the necessary surgery on my eyes when it was first needed, my vision is not perfect. This very slight handicap does not in any way affect my ability to become your perfect companion. I’m so happy here that I wouldn’t mind staying, but my foster parents tell me that is not what they want for me and that somewhere out there is a perfect “forever” home waiting for me. Please don’t misunderstand-I know they love me very much, and that is why they want better for me. If you read this and think that you can provide me with a loving home and are willing to take good care of me for the rest of my life, I am here in Redding waiting for you!

About Desi
Desi was adopted by the Travis family and is living in San Luis Obispo.

My name is Desi, and I am Spanky’s brother. We were found running together and were taken to the shelter in Santa Clara County. I know that you already know that if you read my brother’s bio first, but please don’t believe him about being the better looking brother. I think I was cheated as far as the photos are concerned, because his is a little better than mine. I really just didn’t want to look directly at that camera! I’m fairly certain, though, that you can still tell how handsome I am. I am also a brushcoat, but I am a sable. As Spanky already told you, we are waiting for some sort of surgery to be done. I’m not quite sure what “neuter” means, but I’m fairly certain I won’t like it. I guess for now it’s best to go with “what you don’t know won’t hurt you”. Anyway, we will both be ready for new homes in the very new future, so please consider adding one or the other of us to your family.

About Ralph
Ralph has been adopted by Duane and Cheri Werth and is living in the Sacramento area.

I am another face you might remember-after all who could forget this face? I’m Ralph, and again, due to some unforeseen circumstances, things did not work out for me and my new family. I’m back in Redding and as handsome as ever. I get along with other dogs and people. Sometimes I just get so enthusiastic about life I want to jump up and let everyone know how happy I am so I might be a bit much for very young children. Although with some obedience training I could be a perfect angel-I already look like one! I know there were quite a few of you who were interested in me before I was adopted, and I’m hoping that you are still out there and still looking for a great companion. And what about my foster dad? I guess you’d never know he is a big SC fan-please don’t hold it against me if you are not…

Hi there. My name is Ralph, and I was rescued from a high kill shelter in Sacramento. I was turned in with my companion, but he was a different breed and couldn’t come to Redding with me. I miss him, but my foster parents made sure that he wouldn’t be killed and had a place to go too-it just couldn’t be with me. I know this picture is not the best, because I almost look like I’m scowling, and that is just not me! I’m about the happiest guy you would ever want to meet. I have lots of reasons to be happy-a roof over my head, good food, good friends, and most of all a safe place to stay. As you can see, I am a cream dilute horsecoat and quite handsome. You know, the more I look at this photo, the more I think I will try and convince my foster parents to take a new one. I know sometimes they get so busy looking after us that a new picture may not be possible, and if things go really well, maybe I’ll be adopted before they have a chance. Wouldn’t that be great…….
