Animals on Broadway

Upcoming Event:

It’s time to start thinking about Broadway. No, not the theatre, but Animals on Broadway, a spectacular annual event at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek where people and pets join together and spend the day celebrating the joy of being best friends. And this year, California Shar Pei Rescue will be there.

Whether you're interested in adopting, have questions about the breed, or want to help our fundraising with the purchase of designer Shar Pei clothing and accessories - this is the event for you!

There's fun for the entire family! After visiting the California Shar Pei Rescue booth, you can fill your day browsing numerous other booths, with gifts, pet clothing and costumes, people and pet jewelry, artwork, gourmet pet treats, and professional pet photography, to name a few. There will be dog obedience and training classes, Cutest Beg and Silly Pet Tricks contests, live music, face painting, and even a dog wash.

Sunday, May 3, 2009 11 AM - 4 PM Broadway Plaza Shopping Center, Walnut Creek (So. Main Street & Mt. Diablo Blvd.)

Questions? Call Alexa Langona at (925) 997-0324. Hope to see you there!

More On Willard

Kathy Allred, Willard’s new “mom”, sends her heartfelt thanks to all who donated to help cover Willard’s multiple surgeries:

"Hi Anna,

One more thing. I know you have already thanked all the donors for Willard. However, I would like to thank them also. Willard is just so sweet and he certainly deserves to be loved as much as he is. If it weren't for all his vet bills being paid by all the donations he received and you so generously volunteering to pay for his surgeries, I'm sure he would have had to wait much longer for a forever home. I would not have known the joy of being Willard's new BFF!

I appreciate everyone who helped Willard more than words can ever express and I especially appreciate all you do for these kids. I have had the opportunity to love 3 of your kids and it wouldn't have been possible but for you."

Thank You!

Thanks to all of you who helped Wilbur out with your donations. All his needs have all been met including finding a great new forever home. Kathy Allred, who fostered Wilbur has adopted him. He will be living with her Pei, Mr. Beasley and Chelsea who were also adopted from us. It is not known yet how much vision he will regain, but that doesn’t matter to Kathy and her “kids”-they love him unconditionally. He’s a lucky dog to have so many generous sponsors, and from what Kathy says he would be happy to thank each of you personally with a big sloppy kiss!

And now for news of an upcoming event:

"Calling all adoptive Shar-Pei families! It’s spring again and that calls for the Chinese Shar-Pei Club of Northern California’s annual Breed Specialty shows. During these two shows, the club will again be having a Parade of Rescue. This parade is open to all Shar-Pei who have been lucky enough to be adopted into “forever” homes. There is no cost to participants. This is just a fun thing to do with your Pei and a chance to spotlight these great dogs and give them a rousing round of support and accolades.

The shows will be held on May 15, 2009, at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo, Calif. There will be a morning show and an afternoon show. Last year, the morning show started at 10am and the afternoon show started at 2pm. But the times will not be locked in until after the entry closing date: April 29, 2009, after which we know how many entries we have.

If you would like to participate in either or both parades, please contact Julie Gunn at JBGunn@pacbell.net.

The Chinese Shar-Pei Club of Northern California would also like to offer a free one-year membership to all those who have rescued Shar-Pei. It does not matter if you adopted through CSPR, your local shelter, some other organization, or right off the street. If you are interested, complete the application found at http://webpages.charter.net/cspcnc/id67.htm. For more information about the club, check out the rest of the website or contact club president Deanna Liskey at cspcnc@yahoo.com.

I hope to see you at the show/s! Deanna"
