About Gracie Wakefield
Well, some of you may remember me-I’m Gracie Wakefield. I was adopted last year, but due to some unfortunate circumstances I find myself back at the rescue. I’m not quite sure what happened, but sometimes doodoo does happen. I’m still quite the character and really need to be an only dog. I do not want to share my owner with anyone else. I am an active dog, and very loyal to whomever is lucky enough to adopt me. Please don’t think I am complaining, because they take very good care of me here in Redding. It’s just that for a brief period I had my own home, and I would really like that again. Please don’t think there is something wrong with me because I had to come back…

My name is Gracie Wakefield. I’m not sure why I have two names, and my foster dad says he has never met a Pei before with two names. I guess it’s because I am special, but then all the “kids” here in Redding are special in their own ways. I am a fawn horsecoat girl, and I guess I’m on the large side for a female, but all the more to love you with. Please forgive my photo, it was taken before I had surgery on my eyes, and I look a lot better now. I am an active girl so I would like an energetic family. I might not be good with young children, not because I don’t like them, but I’m just so enthusiastic and what to share my enthusiasm with everyone I meet. Well, that’s all I can think of for now, but if I come up with anything else, I will let you all know. In the meantime, I am ready and waiting for that active family to let me join in their activities!

About Kaiser
I’ve got my eye on you! Hi there. My name is Kaiser, and I came from the Sacramento County Shelter. I’m one of the lucky ones along with my friend Bibby to come out through the front door of that shelter. Most of the dogs don’t make it out of that shelter on their own power, and it’s one of the few shelters that still sells dogs to animal research facilities which can be a fate worse than death. Anyway, the people at the shelter wanted to kill me because they thought that I had an attitude problem, but the fact is that I was in pain. I was taken straight to the vet from the shelter, and it was discovered that I had a dislocated toe. Wouldn’t you be a little cranky if you were in pain? Well, since then my toe has been taken care of, and I have been neutered so I am now ready for the next chapter in my life. If you are ready to turn a new page and would like a new buddy to complete your story with, I am your guy. I am a young fawn horsecoat boy who loves attention, and I promise to be a very loyal companion. I appreciate you taking the time to read my story. Won’t you please help me find my happy ending?

About Bibby
I know what you’re thinking…what big ears I have. You are right-all the better to hear you with! I also have fewer problems with ear infections, so there are some benefits to these wind catchers. Anyway, my name is Bibby. That’s after some sports figure I am told, but my foster mom isn’t up on those sorts of things so we’re not sure who I’m named after. I came from the Sacramento County Shelter along with my friend Kaiser. It seems I’m a victim of the mortgage crisis, since my previous owners lost their home, and consequently I lost mine. They really didn’t take very good care of me anyway, and just kept me as an outside dog. That’s no place for a family member! My life is better now, and my needs are being taken care of. My coat is looking better, and I have been neutered. I would like my forever home to be a calm environment. Sometimes I’m afraid of loud noises, maybe because of something that happened in my past. I would like a brighter future, and I hope one of you can fall in love with those ears (and the rest of me) and want to make me a member of your family. You won’t be sorry-I promise.

About Sonja
My name is Sonja, and I came from the San Diego Humane Society in Southern CA. Funny they call themselves a humane society because they were ready to kill me just for being a Sharpei. Shame on them-maybe they should change their name, but I won’t mention what I think it should be. Anyway, I was standoffish, but isn’t that what being a Sharpei is all about? I was never mean and I am a really good girl in all other ways. I am what they call an “old” style Sharpei. I’m told that means that I don’t have the meaty head that some of my other relatives do. That is not to say that I am any less of a Sharpei - maybe more so. You see, I look more like the original Sharpei that came from China. I say that’s a good thing! Right now I am being fostered in the Los Angeles area, but soon to be headed to Redding to meet my new foster parents. I’m told Redding is very pretty this time of year, but I would really like to find a home of my own-a home where someone will love me for who and what I am. Thanks for looking.

I am a 11 year old girl who is a dog sitter and had a Shar-Pei that passed away last summer at the age of 13. She was a rescue form SPCA in San Francisco. She looked just like this! She was the sweetest dog that ever lived. Also when you where eating dinner she would come over and put her muzzle on your lap.
